Stay at Home Jobs For Pregnant Women

Pregnant mothers may have enough stress in their life worrying about caring for the little one inside their bodies. They do not need the added stress of trying to stand on their feet eight hours a day and deal with a job. Some cannot do this due to a high risk pregnancy. Thankfully, there are many stay at home jobs that pregnant women can do in order to make money.

Some women are lucky enough to work in a position that will allow them to take their work home with them during their pregnancy. This is very beneficial; in that they will have a job to return to if they do not wish to permanently stay at home. This also requires no time or work looking for an online job, as you already have the work in front of you.

However, some pregnant women wish to stay home during and after the pregnancy. These women quit their jobs, and plan to be stay at home mommies. However, these women often need to earn some money to supplement their partner's income. Almost all stay at home jobs can be continued even after the baby arrives, if the mom chooses to stay at home.

The work you choose to do at home depends on your interests, abilities, and the effort you want to make. You can choose to work for a company doing telemarketing or appointment setting. These stay at home jobs still require you to answer to a higher authority, though you often have the flexibility of working when you want.

For ultimate freedom, most pregnant women become self-employed, offering services based on their skills. Many freelance writers, programmers, and web designers are women who are currently expecting or already have children. Choosing to work at home in this manner gives them the ability to spend time with their children, while also cutting out daycare and commuting costs.

Some Benefits to Working from Home

There are many benefits to working from home.  Working from home gives you the freedom to work when you want.  It eliminates commute time.  To some extent, office politics become obsolete.  This type of arrangement comes as close to a true meritocracy as possible.  You produce work, and either it is good or it is not.  You will be judged based upon the quality of your work alone.

If you have small children, working from home gives you a lot of flexibility in the way of being there for your kids.  Work early in the morning and late at night when your children are asleep.  If they attend a preschool of some sort, there is a niche of time during the day during which you can also get some work done.  When your children need you, you can and will be there for them.

If you find that you need more time during the day, hire a babysitter to keep an eye on your kids.  Don't try to work and watch your kids at the same time.  In attempting to do so, both your work and your children will suffer.  Work only when you can completely focus on work, and watch your children only when you can focus entirely on them.  By following this simple rule, both your work and your children will be better off in the long run.

Alpine Access Hires Mothers As Customer Service Agents

(Source: TheDenverChannel.com - Christine Chang)

DENVER -- Let's face it. It can be a challenge for moms to juggle between time at the office and time at home. Now, more and more moms are choosing to stay at home, and make some extra cash at the same time.

Alpine Access is one of the agencies in the Denver metro area that moms are going to for help.

"I think a lot of people are looking to escape that rat race," said Alpine Access CEO Chris Carrington. The agency helps find moms jobs where they can work right from the comfort of their own home. In fact, about 80 percent of Alpine's employees are women like Kathi Matherson.

"I don't want to deal with the commute, the stress. All the stresses that comes with leaving home to work, is not something I look forward to," said Matherson.

Matherson is a mom who homeschools her kids. She wanted to stay home and spend more time with her kids but needed the extra income. Now she works as a customer service agent for local airline company from her own bedroom. For Matherson, she said it's a peferct combination.

"Being a mother is my first priority," said Matherson.

7 Benefits of Working From Home

(Source: Barry Redfearn)

Times have changed, and technology has changed to give people the opportunity to work at home. People are fed up with the weekly routine of pressing that alarm clock at 7am, 6am or even earlier, dragging themselves out of bed. Trying to find a place to sit in the already over crowed public transport and wary not to be late having to explain to their boss why they were late. Here are some of the benefits of working at home.

1. Cut Out The commute Time.

According to a recent survey the average person in the U.S. spends 51 minutes a day commuting to work. That’s 221 hours a year, or 9.2 days. According to the US Census Bureau, the average commute time varies from state to state. The longest commute time are in the largest cities. New York City residents take an average of 38.4 minutes to get to work each day. Unless you are lucky enough to live in Lancaster County, Nebraska your one way commute is only 15 minutes. This ads up to a lot of time over the space of a year. Working at home cuts out this major headache of that dreary commute to work everyday.

2. Be The Boss. How many times have you complained about your boss behind their back. This is a common occurrence with many people in full time employment. At times you can clash with your boss, and no matter what you do, your boss is never pleased. No more having to meet up to other people’s expectations and deadlines. You set the targets you want to achieve.

3. Spend More Time With Your Family.

With the ever increased pressure in today’s work place. Parents are spending more time at work at less time with their family. This puts pressure on you, the employee and more pressure on the family unit. It is increasingly difficult to get the Work-Life balance correct. Working at home gives you the opportunity to get that balance correct so as it does not interfere with your family life.

4. Get Rewarded For The Work You Do.

When you work at home you determine the financial reward you receive in relation to the effort you put in. As an employee you make money for your employer. When you work for some else the money you make goes into someone else’s pocket. You can change this when working at home.

5. Tax Benefits. Working at home turns your normal family home into an office. This means that you can deduct normal house expenses. You can also deduct travel and local transportation expenses. Other deductions include software, books, subscriptions, telephone services, insurance and retirement plans. You can even deduct against the depreciation of your home.

6. Hours Are Flexible.

The traditional 9-5 daily routine restricts what you would really like to do. Many employers stand quite firm over working hours and often if working hours are breached, can often end in disciplinary action. Working at home lifts this constraint and gives you the option of living the life you want to live, the way you want to live it.

7. Less Stress.

25% of employees view their jobs as the number one stressor in their lives and 75% of employees believe the worker has more on-the-job stress than a generation ago. Working at home reduces the amount of stress that is normally associated with working for someone else. Stress can make you feel physically sick, that is why so many working days are lost to stress in today’s environment.

Top 5 Home Businesses - Work From Home and Be Your Own Boss

(Source: Wendy Pan)

Working from home is the American dream. Being able to roll out of bed, grab a cup of coffee then sit down to work is what most people consider ideal, if not a luxury. Savings are made on gas, personal energy expenditures, lunches, and wardrobe when you are your own boss.

Sometimes, however, home businesses are not the answer for everyone. Many children, for example, running around and underfoot constantly can wreak havoc on the would-be entrepreneur. Making phone calls, typing letters, even researching on the internet can prove fruitless when children are calling for juice and fighting in the background.

Still, for those of us that persevere and insist on making this dream a reality that fits neatly into our lives, here are the top 5 home businesses.

eBay and other Auctions Selling:

Selling items, whether they are your own, or purchased at garage sales, flea markets or at discount department stores, have turned into big businesses for some on eBay, Craigslist and other auction sites. Buying items for pennies on the dollar and then turning around and making them available to an international market is an excellent way to make some money. You are not limited to buying the goods outright; you can also use a drop-shipping service or be the middleman between supplier and buyer. A lot of research as well as copywriting, marketing and customer service skills are necessary.

Blogging:

Yes, believe it or not, you can make money blogging. This can be done a number of ways, either by creating and publishing your own blog, with your own thoughts, ideas, etc and then selling advertising on your blog or selling blog articles to pre-existing blogs. Blog articles vary from other topic-interest articles in that they are more casual and reader-friendly. A blog is similar (but not completely so) to a diary or personal journal, so unique thoughts, ideas and judgments are more acceptable on blogs. The skills needed for blog writing include the ability to wander successfully through the social networking empire, web marketing, copywriting and affiliate marketing. A number of books exist on the topic of blogging.

Home Goods Manufacturing:

Another of the top 5 home businesses is arts and crafts selling. Do you make jewelry? Do you paint mailboxes? Use your talent to make you money on the Internet. The skills necessary for this are, of course, creativity and e-commerce. You can create your own online store by registering your own domain name and purchasing hosting for that domain name. You can also create your own store on eBay and many other auction sites. It is a good idea to take a class or two (if you are unfamiliar) with website design. A website is much like the presentation of a gift, it's very important in a person's first impression of your business.

Freelancing:

Another idea is to provide your professional services to the general public. What can you do that others cannot? It might be freelance writing, illustrating, or programming. This is one of the top 5 home businesses that allows you to blend your talents, creativity and skills with bringing in income. It is customary for freelancers to bill at an hourly rate.

Virtual Assistant:

Becoming a virtual assistant is much like being a secretary; the benefit, of course, is the ability to work from home. Being a VA means to provide business and administrative support to other businesses who recruit your help. It is important to be organized, and to have excellent customer service and customer relation skills.

Any at home job will require discipline and organization. To be successful and rewarding, it is best to research your chosen line of work carefully, avoid scams, and most of all, enjoy it. If you end up choosing something you do not enjoy, all of the benefits for working from home go out the window.
